I have been
A real slacker this past…oh two months. I have not been at all consistent with my workouts and running… what’s that??? Did I like hit a wall or something? I don’t know, but I really haven’t been so motivated- I’m thinking it’s the “fall blues” or hues :-)… or the fact that since my munchkin started nursery school, it has been really tough getting to the gym in the morning…or after work.
But excuses, excuses, no more. Okay so I’m really not “feeling” running outside in the morning… it’s really cold out there. Unless it’s a race, why do it? (I’m not there yet..at all) So I remember last year when I first started taking the running thing seriously, I ran on the treadmill… I think I have to go back to that somehow and just wake up early enough to at least do the gym for an hour and get back to get the girl going.
Anyway, so that’s where I’ve been…. doing not much of anything at all. I’m gonna start the next week!!!! Well this weekend… but the theme here is No More Excuses!!!!!!

My first Half..
I don’t quite know what I got myself into… but it appears as though I’ve signed up to run a half marathon in July, yikes!!! the NYC Half to be exact. I blame my kooky sister.
You know how sometimes in the mail you get those things from Team In Training, a charity that raises money for Leukemia? For years I’ve gotten those and I’d just shred them. Some time last year, my sister had gotten one and told me about it so I checked them out online… It seemed interesting and I thought I’d be nice to run in San Fran or somewhere, a chance to run and travel, that’s cool… but didn’t really give it much thought after that. A few weeks ago I got another one of those mailings and there was to be a meeting where we could get more info on it, so I told my sister and we decided to go. I was just gonna go to get more info and just think about it, not to commit myself to anything, since I really don’t think I’d have the time for all that. Apparently my sister had already made up her mind that she wanted to run the half marathon.
Well after hearing what they had to say, they had the registration forms and there was a fee… which I did not have at the time, so I definitely wasn’t going to register. But my sister did, she was all for it and so she registered. While sitting there one of the staff members came over to talk to us and asked me why I wasn’t registering, I told her that I didn’t have the registration fee - I was also thinking that there’s no way I’ll be ready to run that race in July- even if I could raise that kind of money… then she told me that usually they put a fee waiver under one seat at the meetings and whoever gets it doesn’t have to pay the fee, but she had forgotten to do that and she could just give it to me… so I thought, oh well in that case, why the heck not- NOT!! But the woman was serious, and she went ahead and got the waiver form for me, and my sister’s like “see that” with a big smile on her face.
So I started thinking…hmm, they would be training us, and they seem pretty confident that they can get us to these goals (some people are gonna train for the marathon)… and it might not be the worst thing in the world to run 13.1 miles… not to mention that I do wanna run a marathon some day, so that’s a start…and I’d have coaches, and they’ll tell me how to go about raising the money (the other scary aspect to this whole thing)… but as scared as I was/am to do this, somehow, I talked myself into it, plus my sister would be so disappointed if I didn’t do this with her. I just stopped thinking about it, and filled out the form. Now I just have to commit myself the training and to raising the money…. when I have a weblink for that I guess I’ll be sharing it with you all…. but as it stands, all being well, I’ll be running the NYC Half Marathon on July 27th… an exciting, yet very scary thought!!!!

Quick Question…
Can anyone tell me how to have the blog post AND the logbook activity in the same posting?? When I do a blog with the activity, the logbook doesn’t show… how do I fix that? I know it can be done, I’ve seen it on others..
